Achieve Healthy Aging By Overcoming Obesity |
|

By Paul Strachocki
There is too much evidence gathered now in the health industry to hold on to any belief that healthy aging and obesity can coexist. If you're obese, the best way you can slow the aging process is to lose weight.
Dangers and Difficulties that Obese People Encounter
You know the difficulties you face each day that others take for granted, but there are also more subtle and dangerous aspects of being obese. As an obese person, you are far more likely to suffer from a variety of closely related diseases, which some suggest are all one disease. You have an increased risk of having a heart attack, stroke, diabetes, or sleep apnea. You're also more likely to suffer from joint pain and depression. In other words, your length of life and quality of life are greatly reduced.
Choose to Overcome Obesity
You have to choose to overcome obesity. It doesn't just happen by accident. Such a decision must be accompanied by daily action. Every day you need to make good food choices and exercise. You don't have to go on a
crash diet or exercise yourself to the brink of death, so long as you're consistent about making good, healthy choices. Part of being obese is feeling tired. Part of what got you to this point was giving up on being healthy. But if you will overcome these feelings and make positive choices at each meal of each day, and take the time to do moderate exercise every day, you have a great chance of losing weight. You don't have to become thin instantly. Patience and persistence are the key to good health.
Health Food Choices to Overcome Obesity
You don't have to follow a specific diet to lose weight. Instead, focus on eating healthfully. After all, the goal of losing weight is healthy aging. You want to be vital so eat foods that will make you vital. So avoid eating fried foods, especially meats and foods cooked in animal fats. Anything that can be baked is healthier baked than fried.
Eat your meals at the same time each day. Include as many vegetables and fruits as possible, in the most natural form possible. Cut back on condense calorie foods. Try to replace them with foods you like that are full of fiber. Don't eat fast food. When you eat out, choose salads and other natural foods. Learn how to prepare your own foods at home so that you won't be dependent on highly processed foods. Always eat your meals at the table. Don't eat while being entertained, such as while watching television or browsing the Web. Don't go back for a second serving and don't eat between meals.
Remember to Keep It Simple, Gradual, Consistent
It is important to reemphasize that overcoming obesity is a long-term initiative for healthy aging. Don't try to change everything overnight, but don't backtrack. Keep moving forward with gradual changes in how you eat. Exercise every day, even if it is only a 30-minute walk. If you seem unable to control your compulsions, seek professional help.
After years of neglect, I found that my health had suffered. My website, contains the result of my journey back towards health.
